From a dreamer in Delhi's government schools to Japan's cultural ambassador - a story of grit, passion, and unwavering determination
I grew up in Delhi in a lower middle–class family, studying in a government school and living a simple, ordinary life. Everything changed when I watched Kimi no Na Wa. Something in that movie awakened a deep connection to Japan, its language, its culture, and its emotions.
That moment pushed me to start learning Japanese, turning a small curiosity into a passion that grew stronger every day.

After JLPT N4, I had no coaching, no teachers, and Never studied in Japan.
During the corona pandemic, in a small room with nothing but books and determination, I taught myself Japanese for hours every day. Through that quiet but intense journey, I eventually cleared JLPT N1 entirely through self-study, achieving a milestone built on discipline and belief.

As I continued learning, I also began teaching. I taught more than 100 students, helping others understand the language I had fallen in love with.
Teaching not only supported their goals but also strengthened my own skills and deepened my passion for Japanese.

At the age of 20, I moved to Japan completely alone, without family, friends, or experience.
I secured a job independently even as a fresher, relying only on hard work and a dream I refused to give up on. This step changed my life and shaped who I am today.

My journey opened unexpected opportunities. I won the All India Japanese Speech Contest, contributed to the Indian release of "Kimi no Na Wa," and collaborated on the RADWIMPS concert.
Each achievement brought India and Japan a little closer and strengthened my connection to both countries.

What began in a small room in Delhi grew into a global community of learners and Japan lovers. My content reached millions, I was featured in major Indian and Japanese media, appeared on television, and met influencers and celebrities I once admired from a distance.
And to think, it all started when a 20–year–old kid decided to learn Japanese, believing it might change his life, and today a growing community supports Nikhil Kun and his journey.
